Safety Testing

At Mid America Distributors Inc. and Fireworks Supermarket are committed to working to improve the safety of the consumer fireworks we sell in Tennessee.

Consumer fireworks are officially referred to as UNO-336, 1.4G fireworks. They were formerly referred to as Class C or common fireworks. The legal authority for consumer fireworks and the definitions and standards for their construction and function are found in Title 49 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations.

All of Mid America’s firework products meet or exceed the standards established by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for UNO-336 1.4G (Class C) consumer fireworks, as well as the additional AFSL voluntary provisions.

Mid America Distributors Inc., is a charter member of the American Fireworks Standards Laboratory (AFSL); an independent, non-profit corporation established in 1989 by members of the fireworks industry to: develop voluntary quality and safety standards, work with manufacturers to improve safety and quality, provide a testing program, provide testing and certification, and support the effort of groups promoting the safe use of consumer fireworks.

AFSL operates the China Fireworks Quality Improvement Program. This is a testing program administered by an independent, internationally recognized testing laboratory.
